The Faces Behind the Foundation

Stealer of Hearts

Sweetness delivered. Bravery pending.

Adopted by our founder from Ark Animal Rescue Center, he instantly became his mom’s whole world. With his gentle nature and loving presence, he has a magical ability to melt hearts on contact.

Harvey is soft, sweet and scared of anything louder than a whisper. Wind? Suspicious. Plastic packet? Absolutely not. An unfamiliar mop? Emotional devastation. He has a million great qualities, bravery isn’t one of them.

The only thing that eases Harvey’s anxiety (other than his vet-prescribed Xanax) is the company and comfort of someone he trusts. His hyper-sensitivity sparked a bigger question: How many dogs like Harvey are out there – fearful, fragile and totally alone?

That one question led Harvey’s mom into the rescue world – volunteering time, energy (and loads of tears) at animal rescue shelters. It didn’t take long to realise that while these places were overflowing with love, they were seriously lacking in funding.

That paw in our logo? 100% Harvey.

Raw and straight from the source.

Small Dog. Big Energy.

Fiercely loving. Will attack owner, if provoked.

Poppet (the other pup in the extended family equation) belongs to our founder’s mom. Where Harvey is all softness and “please don’t shout”, Poppet is 6kg of fury, sass, and not putting up with anyone’s nonsense. This is what we call “small dog syndrome”. Underneath the tough facade, Poppet is sensitive, clingy, and unbelievably caring. She needs gentle love, safety and a human to show up for her every single day.

Different Personalities. The same needs.

Despite both having a safe and loving home, Harvey and Poppet are wildly different creatures. One lives under the blanket, the other is the blanket overlord. Every single dog (whether fragile or fierce) deserves protection, compassion, safety, and a home where they’re allowed to be exactly who they are.

There are so many dogs that could be helped, if the resources existed.

And that is why Our Paws Foundation exists: to get more resources into the hands of shelters that give dogs (of all different natures) a second chance. Harvey’s softness was the spark. Poppet’s attitude started the fire.
